From Struggling Single Mom of Four To Agency Owner
Design Boss Studio didn’t just happen—it’s the result of years of dedication, creativity, and learning through experience. It all began in 1997 when Willow found herself in a “trial by fire” introduction to graphic design. Her ex-husband had started a business and needed promotional materials—fast. With little time and no formal training, she dove headfirst into design, creating everything he needed from scratch and learning the ropes under pressure. What began as an unexpected challenge sparked a lifelong passion for design.
From there, Willow’s journey was anything but typical. She became a self-taught designer, taking on projects for friends and local businesses whenever she could, all while raising four kids as a single mom and attending college.
Each project added new skills and honed her eye for detail, blending her natural creativity with a growing technical skill set. Her design work was steady, growing over the years as she balanced it with the demands of family life.
Fast forward: with her children grown and her life in a new chapter, Willow decided to pursue her passion for design and social media with fresh intensity. Five years ago, she enrolled in a rigorous, months-long masterclass on YouTube strategy, mastering the nuances of what makes a digital presence impactful. The combination of this newfound expertise in YouTube and her years of design experience was the perfect formula, and Design Boss Studio was born—a full-service social media agency that pairs strategy with creativity to deliver powerful results.
